About Us

Everyone is welcome at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, and that includes you. We would love for you to come get to know who we are, as much as we desire to get to know you. So please come worship with us, join a small group, or serve in one of our outreach projects - whatever it takes for you to rediscover what matters most in your life.

Who We Are

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church

We are a Christian Church.

We are part of a denomination/association of churches called: Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC).

We take seriously Jesus’ Great Commission to “Go, Teach, and Baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit,” and Jesus Great Commandment to “love God and love our neighbor.”

We are a Lutheran Church, which means we are constantly “Reforming” ourselves to preach the Word of God (the Bible) and share the sacraments (Baptism & Communion), in the most effective way possible. That includes how we understand ourselves, our mission and how we want to share ourselves with our community and world. For that reason, we have spent time updating the look and feel of our church. Below is our new logo, and an explanation of how it is both faithful to who we have been, but also helps to communicate who we are today, and who we want to be in the future.

Good Shepherd’s New Logo Unveiled!

Over the past few years we have been in the process of “branding” the church, in order to reach out to every generation in an effective way. Branding is a fancy term for updating the look and feel of our church, including our logo, website and publications. We still strongly identify with our Good Shepherd Lutheran Church roots, but as you see below, re-imagined that connection through the symbols in our new logo.

Good Shepherd — The name of our church comes from the Bible. Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” (John 10:11)

Lutheran Church — We are Christians who emphasize salvation by Grace through Faith (not by works), and as Martin Luther proclaimed, the Bible is the Word of God and a guide for life.

Rediscover what matters most — In a world that is ever changing, as people’s levels of stress run at all-time highs, and people try to go through life without God, don’t you think it is time to rediscover what matters most? We do. Our logo contains just a few of these CORE things.

Cross

The Cross — The Good Shepherd lays his life down for the sheep indeed. We see in the cross the salvation that Jesus purchased for us with his own life, death and resurrection. The cross is the central symbol in the Christian life. As Hebrews says, “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross…” (Hebrews 12:2)

People

The People — Psalm 95:7 says it well, “For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand.” (NKJV) At Good Shepherd Lutheran Church we seek out a strong relationship with God and with one another. We encourage families to worship together. We also see a partnership between faith being formed in the home, being taught in the church, and lived out in the world.
Water

The Living Water — Just as water nourishes our body, so the Living Water Jesus promised nourishes our souls. Whenever our spirits are dry, we can return to God. “For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; He will lead them to springs of living water.” (Revelation 7:17)
