Meet the Staff

Ryan Warne-McGraw

Pastor of Worship and Outreach
Hometown: Irvine, CA / (Grew up in Lake Oswego, OR) Family Info: The love of my life: my wife Nicole (14 years in Aug), daughters Kinzie (8), Audrey, (5), Lily (1) How did you become a part of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church? I was “drafted” in 2006 as part of the search for our third Pastor.  It was a great move to come to Irvine and become part of this church of great people, and it is fun to live in a diverse community.  What is your role? I’m one of the Pastors here, focused on worship, local outreach and global missions ministries at Good Shepherd. What is your favorite part about your role? It is such a privilege to work with a team of other great pastors and great staff as we serve and equip people for ministry together.  I really feel like we are accomplishing things together so I’m not just on my own.
Fun Stuff
If you were an animal what would you be? I would be a spider monkey, the most acrobatic monkey in the rainforest, able to swing from tree to tree at great speeds – that fits my spirit of adventure.  What's the greatest invention in the last 50 years? 1971--WAFFLE-SOLE RUNNING SHOES - Bill Bowerman (Nike), the track coach at the University of Oregon, sacrificed breakfast for peak performance when he poured rubber into his wife's waffle iron, forming the lightweight soles that would later become Nike’s Waffle Trainer.   How cool is that! What is your favorite place on earth? Inside the US: Glacier National Park is my “happy place.” Outside the US: Standing on the shore of the Sea of Galilee in Israel.  What makes you laugh? My wife Nicole and I find so many things to laugh about just watching our girls interact – that, and the T.V. shows "Modern Family" and "Glee." If you could have any super-power what would it be? The ability to fly like superman or the ability to time travel without messing up the future for everyone else.
