About Us

Mission Partners

A portion of our church benevolence dollars goes to help these four mission starts with their ministries.  As these churches move toward self-sufficiency we will be able to sponsor new congregations in their mission to spread the good news of Jesus Christ.  Thank you Good Shepherd for your generous giving and for your prayers for our Mission Partner congregations.

Acts 1:8 says “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”  By analogy, our mission partners move from Irvine, Garden Grove, San Diego and Arizona.  (See our Global Mission page (link) to see how we are sponsoring missions and missionaries around the world)

Grace Lutheran Church

Founded in August 2008, Grace Lutheran church holds services at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Irvine. This is a church mainly for people with Chinese background.  Our goal is to have a healthy life, to serve joyfully and to share the Gospel effectively. Therefore, we hope to systematically build up Christ’s disciples, to find out individual’s gifts, to encourage congregational involvement in the ministry of the church, and to reach out to the community and share Gospel. We also hope that we can work with other churches with the same vision so we can preach the Gospel to people near and far.  For more information please contact: Jen-hao Lee, johnleetw10@gmail.com or on facebook.

The Calling

The Calling Church is a LCMC church startup being planted in the College Area of San Diego in close proximity to the campus of San Diego State University.  The College Area is close to the densely populated area of Mission Valley, and is central to many communities in the city of San Diego.  There is revitalization in the College Area and surrounding communities as the area is transitioning to households with young families.  The transition and growth makes this a great place to plant.

The Calling Church is looking forward to a public launch of weekly worship in September 2011.  In the meantime, we are connecting with our community through servant evangelism, connecting with community leaders, community events, and connecting with our neighbors.  We look forward to launching Alpha home groups this spring as well as a Campus Alpha group at San Diego State University.  We look forward to launching our contemporary and casual style of ministry and reaching our community.

Light The Way

We are, as our name - Light The Way Mission Development Church - suggests, a new mission Church (LCMC) and a beacon of light for His Word! And though we are just putting down roots in the Northwest Tucson and Marana area, we are a vibrant part of the body of Christ which is claimed by His light forever, called, gathered and sent to tell of God's love and to serve all of God's people! We are called to proclaim the Gospel, care for our neighbors, provide for the needy, care for the sick, welcome the lost, teach the scriptures, enhance our new and thriving preschool, and serve His church more fully. House of God

House of God is a new Lutheran Congregation in Mission for Christ in Redlands, California.  Pastor Greg and Cindi Wallace lead this new church that started in 2011.  The church in built on Jesus’ call to make disciples from Matthew 28.  As the only LCMC church in the area, they draw folks from all over Inland Empire.

Most of the congregation are connected in discipleship oriented groups called “huddles”.  They reach out to their communities in love and service through Missional Community groups.  The groups of 20-50 people each have a specific missional focus (helping poor teens, serving the homeless, caring for children in hospitals, etc.).  The church gathers on Sunday morning with 2 worship times.  A traditional service at 8:30am and a more contemporary expression at 10am.  There’s a budding youth ministry and a dynamic Sunday kids’ church as well.  It’s a great family to be a part of. Check out their website for more info http://www.ieHouseofGod.org or email Pastor Greg & Cindi at greg@ieHouseofGod.org and cindi@ieHouseofGod.org.
